Thank you for stopping by my website, my name is Ellie Ellison and I am a multimedia painting illustrator based in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I was born in Nevada, moved to Forida for 9 years where I ended up completing my AA and Batchlors, and moved back to complete my Masters.

   Since losing my dad from cancer at 10, and at 18 losing my mother to suicide, much of my work focuses on the philosophical concept Amor Fati, which is lovingly and happily embracing one's fate no matter the circumstance.  Friedrich Nietzsche’s concept contextualizes my art with my experience as a survivor of suicide loss. Understanding my work through the aforementioned philosophy allows for a deeper philosophical discussion of absurdism, which is to live passionately despite life’s seemingly inherent lack of meaning. Nietzsche’s conclusion of absurdism, to counter nihilism is similar to the emotional experience of sudden loss. Because of my past, my portrayal of loss attempts to circumvent hopelessness through a genuine and honest portrayal of grief.  I explore the devastating and absurd reality of finding my mother after her last moments, and the grasp for my own Amor Fati. Through my work, I embrace the reality of life beyond death by turning it into something unconventionally beautiful. To some this topic feels insignificant, but everyone has experienced loss, and many lose their sense of self in the search to find purpose. Because of this, I believe Amor Fati is an invaluable tool in realistic conversations about death and bringing a nuanced take to the normality's of loss.
