Mixed Media Acrylic Paintings

I create mixed media paintings as an emotional reflection on my parent's death, and the connection I continue to hold with them even after their passing. Using acrylics, charcoal, and plaster, I combine personal allegorical visuals of loss and immersive atmospheres of beautiful hope to reflect on my internal dialog about grief. Painting these opposing moods allows me to visualize death's epilogue of living after such jarring events, and how the beauty of life and memory chooses to persist. My point in illustrating these ideas is to normalize the long term impacts of loss and to connect with those who have similar experiences. Grief is not a wound to be healed, but sense of being that evolves and holds weight in who I will become.
